Launching the “Vestment Series”: Celebrating our Foremothers From Paper to Silk

This textile silk fabric began as a monotype print on sewing tissue pattern pieces from my personal sewing collection of the 1970’s. Exhibited in 2013-2020 as a ”work on paper” the artwork garnered so much interest that my audiences and patrons would stand behind the mannequin to take a selfie as if they were wearing the dress. Thus, with encouragement like that and energy from my studio assistant, Nicole, I embarked upon creating a limited edition silk dress based on the original monotype.
